A PERSONALl A-Z of rock and pop music is to be broadcast over the summer by one of Scotland’s top music broadcasters.
Jim Gellatly is joining Radio Clyde to present the show – on Saturdays, from 2pm – while the station’s normal programming, based around the Scottish football season, is on vacation. As he works through the alphabet, he will be sharing his own personal recollections, including interviewing Robbie Williams at five in the morning after he left Take That for a solo career and forgetting to hit the record button when speaking to Blur.
Says Jim: “I may have a reputation for breaking new music, but I’ve got wide tastes that I think reflect Clyde 1’s audience, and I can’t wait to come on board. I was the first person in the world to play acts like Biffy Clyro, Amy Macdonald and The Fratellis, but I’ve a passion for classic pop music, old or new. I’m really excited about sharing my love for the music, and it’s a real thrill to be part of such a strong line-up at Clyde 1.”
Dundee-born Gellatly began his radio career at Inverness station, Moray Firth Radio, before moving onto Northsound 1 followed by Beat 106, XFM and BBC Radio Scotland. He produces and hosts a weekly podcast, ‘Jim Gellatly’s New Music’ and, two years ago, won the prestigious ‘John Peel Award for Contribution to Music Radio’.
